Start spreading the news...

Yep, we're leaving !

And the next stop in the Daniel and Iris world tour is... Dublin!

Now I'm pretty sure I know one man who's happy/proud of this decision of ours and hopefully this means we'll get to see him soon !

Now, after telling a couple of people this, we have been getting a lot of "But I thought you were so happy in France" and so on so I feel there's need for an explanation, or more of a clarification actually:

This is the Daniel and Iris world tour

We left Iceland because we wanted to see the world and the world does not end in the south of France.
We always talked about staying maybe for 2-3 years in France, once we moved down south we talked about staying here for maybe a year or two and then go somewhere else. Of course we would like to buy a house down here but that won't be in the immediate future.

Right now, Dublin is really interesting. Hewlett Packard have offered me a job doing high level tech support for their French Enterprise customers supporting servers and networks (not really a hotline, maybe treating 4-5 incidents a day max). They will fly us out there, put us up in an appartement for four weeks and give me a "Relocation bonus".

The facilities at HP are great, this center has won best support center in Europe for the last 3 years (chosen amongst 800 support centers by an independent agency), there is a gym that's open 24/7, Cybercafe etc etc.

Iris has applied for a job with Google and has started sending her CV out to other companies. She'll have no problem with getting a job out there since a lot of big international companies have their European HQ there (Dell, HP, Google and Apple to name a few).

This is all happening very fast and I will start my new job on the 24th of October.

Facts:

Ireland has only 20% income tax and it's automatically deducted from your paycheck each month (yayyyy let's leave the French bureaucrats!).

Dublin is the youngest city in Europe (age of habitants).

Dublin is one of the most expensive cities in Europe, just under Paris in average cost of living.

Ireland is the first country in Europe to ban smoking in public.

We'll keep you posted on how this goes.

Now if there's anyone (other than Jorgen) reading this blog, please comment.

One more thing, I don't know if I've already blogged about this but check out my last.fm profile.
Basicly this is a plugin that I've put on Winamp (what I use to listen to music on my laptop) that transfers the names of songs I listen to to this site.
I think it's pretty cool that I can check out a site of a friend or even a stranger and get names of new interesting groups or just check out what people are listening to (if people I actually know take this up). You can see the name of the song as soon as I have finished listening to it (only lists the songs I listen to from beginning to end).

Also, after listening to a certain number of songs, it starts classing my "musical neighbours" meaning people who listen to similar music as myself, permitting me to browse through their song lists and thus discovering new bands etc.

I'm going to install the plugins for iTunes at home and the iPod, although this will become somewhat of a shared profile between me and Iris in doing that.

Now I'm done

So it seems as if I've been tagged.

I don't really know what to tell you but I'll give it a shot.

1. Vanity is my middle name...

2. I cannot get a haircut I like... Vanity does not like that...

3. I'm scared of flying and afraid of heights.

4. I think coming from Iceland is really special... and cool.

5. I'm really really spontaneous... Current events are a very good example of this.

I'm tagging or "clocking" like I prefer (what's up nowwwww biatch) Jorgen ( in Icelandic) and my dear uncle Ziggie Stardust

I won't blog about it tonight but there are some very big changes going on with us right now, the public press release will probably be done tomorrow night or this weekend so check back.

Stay fresh kids

Quick Rene, ze Germanz are cumming.....

The Resistance
Achtung! You are 38% brainwashworthy, 18% antitolerant, and 42% blindly patriotic
Welcome to the Resistance (Der Widerstand)! You believe in freedom, justice, equality, and your country, and you can't be converted to the the dark side.

Breakdown: your Blind Patriotism levels are borderline unhealthy, but you show such a love of people from everywhere and a natural resistance to brainwashing, you would probably focus your energy to fight the Fuehrer with furor, so to speak.

Conclusion: born and raised in Germany in the early 1930's, you would have taken up ARMS against the oppressors. Or even your friends' oppressors. Congratulations!

Less than 5% of all test takers earn a spot in the Resistance!
